The Buggy before the Horse by Tricia Goyer Book 3 of Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries

Rated: 5 star rating

I just finished The Buggy before the Horse by Tricia Goyer, and it was such a fun, cozy read. This is the third book in the Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries, and the Thanksgiving backdrop makes it the perfect book to curl up with on a chilly afternoon.

The story gets going right away when Cheryl realizes someone has been hiding out in Naomi and Seth Miller's winter buggy and sneaking food from their cellar. Things get even crazier when a bunch of shops on Main Street start getting robbed, including Cheryl’s own gift shop, the Swiss Miss.

I loved the dynamic between the characters. Naomi just wants to be nice and help whoever is hiding out, while Cheryl is on a mission to track down the clues and figure out who is behind the thefts.

The suspect list is huge, ranging from a backpacker and a local foster kid to an Amish handyman, which kept me guessing the whole time.

It’s a really nice, clean mystery with a great community vibe. Everything wraps up perfectly at the end without any crazy drama or weird cliffhangers. If you like lighthearted cozy mysteries that make you feel good, you should definitely add this one to your reading list.
