I just finished The English Bookstore in Bologna by Boo Walker, and it is such a sweet, cozy book. The story takes place over one summer in Italy inside a little English bookshop. The story is focusing on five regular people who are all going through a tough time in life, like heartbreak, retirement, and job burnout.
Just a quick heads-up for readers sensitive to certain content: there is no severe cursing or no sexual content, but there is depression and attempted suicide, but it all fits into the characters' real-life adult struggles.
The characters feel so real, from Sandy the grumpy shop owner to Harold, a young guy trying to get over a bad breakup. The author does an amazing job describing Italy, so it feels like you are escaping on a vacation while you read it.
It is just an easy-to-read story about fresh starts, making new friends, and finding where you belong. I highly recommend it if you want something uplifting and relaxing to read.
Thank you, NetGalley, Lake Union Publishing, and author Boo Walker, for providing me with a copy of this free ebook in exchange for an honest review.
