Between Flowers and Bones by Carolyn Leiloglou

Between Flowers and Bones

by Carolyn Leiloglou

Rating: 5 star rating

Between Flowers and Bones by Carolyn Leiloglou is the second book in the Restorationists series, a middle-grade fantasy where people can travel through paintings and protect artwork from evil forces known as Distortionists

The story follows twelve year old Georgia, who has spent years training as a Restorationist and learning how to navigate the worlds hidden inside famous paintings. She is part of a family of Restorationists, people who can travel inside famous paintings. Georgia has worked hard to develop her skills, but when her cousin Vincent discovers he has a rare and powerful gift, she starts feeling left behind.

As Georgia, Vincent, and their friend Ravi travel through different paintings, they face dangerous Distortionists who want to twist and destroy the beauty inside the art. Along the way, Georgia has to deal with jealousy, self-doubt, and figuring out where she belongs.

Georgia felt like a real kid. She doesn't always make the right choices, but her struggles and emotions feel believable. The worlds inside the paintings were creative and fun to imagine, and I liked learning a little about famous artwork while reading.

This was a fun adventure with lots of action, friendship, and family drama. The ending wraps up the main story while leaving you to wonder what happens next. I would recommend it to kids who enjoy fantasy, magic, and stories about finding your own strengths. It's a cute story that adults will enjoy reading, too.

Thank you, NetGalley,WaterBrook & Multnomah, and the author Carolyn Leiloglou for the book review consideration. All opinions are my own.
