The Writer's Process
Getting Your Brain in Gear (10th Anniversary Edition)
by Anne Janzer
Rating: 5 star rating
I have wanted to write my own book for a really long time, but honestly, I’ve just been too afraid to even start. Staring at a blank screen is intimidating, and I always felt stuck. But reading The Writer's Process completely changed things for me and gave me so much hope.
The absolute best part of this book is how she explains that your brain has two modes: the "Muse" mode, which is the creative, messy side that gets ideas, and the "Scribe" mode, the strict side, that fixes spelling and grammar.
I realized my biggest mistake was trying to write and edit at the exact same time. That is exactly why I kept freezing up! Learning to separate the two made it much easier.
This is the new 10th-anniversary version, so it also has a great section on how to handle AI tools responsibly without losing your own voice.
The book is short, super easy to read, and doesn't feel boring. If you are afraid of writing or just don't know how to take that first step, you should get this book. It gave me the confidence to finally start chasing my dream.
Thank you, NetGalley, Cuesta Park Consulting, and the author, Anne Janzer, for the book review consideration. All opinions are my own.
