The Mentor's Daughter A Psychological Suspense Thriller by Steve Hadden

 Rating: 5 star rating

I just finished reading the eBook for The Mentor’s Daughter by Steve Hadden, and if you love psychological thrillers, you seriously need to add this one to your to be read list. The story starts on a freezing night in Tulsa when Eli Scott goes to meet his long-time mentor, Jim Munro. Instead of Jim, his daughter, Hope, shows up. She tells him her father has completely vanished. What starts as an investigation quickly turns into a race filled with toxic family secrets and old corporate rivalries. Eli is forced into a pretty shaky alliance with Hope, who has a public reputation as a cold, calculating sociopath. Eli constantly distrusts her throughout the investigation, leaving her true motives entirely unclear as they dig into the past.

Eli is a great main character because he is deeply loyal but totally haunted by his past. The story flows well, and since the author has a background in the oil industry, the technical details feel real without slowing down the fast pace of the story.

The ending delivers a massive psychological twist that makes you rethink the entire story from the beginning. It is an original journey from start to finish, and I highly recommend it for your next read.

Thank you, NetGalley, Mahoghany Row Press, and author Steve Hadden, for providing me with a copy of this free ebook in exchange for an honest review.
